Alex Walker, Musical Director
Alex was introduced to music as a young child, listening to his Grandad’s tales of life as a military musician. He picked up his first cornet at nine years of age and has since learnt to play a range of instruments, although the trumpet remains his primary study.
Alex gained his degree in Music with Instrumental and Vocal Teaching at the University of Chichester. He took part in various ensembles, including wind band, orchestra and ten-piece brass ensemble. During his studies he found a new passion for choral singing, leading to a Masters in Choral Studies, where Alex gained a solid foundation in conducting and ensemble leadership.
Following his studies, Alex trained as a music teacher and now works as a teacher of brass, curriculum music, guitar, and voice.
He joined the band in 2010 as a member of the trumpet section and took over as Musical Director in 2022.
